Honda Tadatsugu

Honda Tadatsugu (1547-1612) was a senior retainer beneath the clan of Tokugawa throughout the latter Sengoku Period of Feudal Japan. Tadatsugu was the husband to one of Suganuma Sadamura's daughters and more than likely possessed a very firm relation with the former's family in result to this. As it is speculated that Tadatsugu began his notable service under Tokugawa Ieyasu initially around the latter's assistance to the Imagawa at Okehazama in 1560, he nonetheless grew in rank with relative speed; and by the 1564 besiegement of Yoshida castle, Tadatsugu served as a leading general of the vanguard under the Tokugawa. Recorded to have served within the Battle of Anegawa in 1570, Tadatsugu went on to support his respective banner throughout the 1575 Battle of Nagashino, where he held the rank of General, and fought with at least moderate showing to his name. By the Tokugawa's resentful assault upon Takatenjin castle in 1581, for the sake of returning such a territory beneath their rightful jurisdiction, it is not known to what extent of prowess Tadatsugu had shown within this conflict, but he nonetheless became more loyal to his lord, and even personally attended the marriage of Ieyasu's second daughter to Hojo Ujinao two years into the future. The life and career of Tadatsugu remains unknown from this point onward, but it can be easily speculated that he took some part within the 1600 Sekigahara Campaign and entered into the Edo Period with a greater sum of koku to his name and land. Regardless of the circumstances, Tadatsugu would die by the year of 1612 more than likely through natural means.
