HOn3-1/2 or HOn3.5 represents the modelling of 3'6" gauge railways in HO scale, resulting in a model track gauge of 12mm (the same as HOm and TT scale). Trains are operated using direct current or Digital Command Control over realistic-looking two-rail track.
The prototypical Narrow Gauge railways that use the so-called 'Cape Gauge' can be found in South Africa, Indonesia, Australia, Japan and others. A number of these countries run rather significant operations on this gauge, and models can depict anything from small branchline to heavy haulers.
