We all remember what it's like to be new, so don't let others scare you off.

[edit] Useful links

Here's some useful links that will help you get started.

  •   Tutorial - a collection of pages explaining the most important things for contributing to Wikipedia.
  •   Sandbox - the best place for trying things out. If previous edits you made to articles have been reverted because they were experimental or unconstructive, this is the place to make test edits.
  •   Wikipedia:Manual of Style - our style guide outlines our standards for ensuring that we present information in a consistent manner that promotes cohesion and professionalism.

[edit] Contributing

With these references at hand, we hope you find it easier to contribute to Wikipedia. Here's a brief synopsis of some ways you can:

  • We obviously wouldn't have an encyclopedia without articles. This page shows how you can help them grow.
  • Removing vandalism and keeping the integrity of articles intact is a great way of contributing. More information on how to do so can be found here.
  • Fixing typos, correcting poor grammar and repairing broken links are just some examples of useful, behind the scenes contributions. Even just making things look nice makes using Wikipedia more pleasant for everybody.
  • If you like working with images, you might be interested in the Graphic Lab. Similarly, this page shows you how to work with images in Wikipedia articles.
  • This page lists the many types of tasks you can do to maintain Wikipedia.
  • There are numerous WikiProjects that aim to provide coordination and collaboration on particular subjects. From this list, you can join a project and contribute within an area that interests you.

Of course, there are many ways of contributing, but I hope that this message is helpful to you, and that you'll enjoy editing Wikipedia and continue to do so. [edit] Homeopathy warning

Only because of your name, I'm adding a warning on the Homeopathy article probation. Because of massive edit wars on the article, we've (the administrators, by consensus, have established additional ground rules for editing the article homeopathy and related articles. I'm writing this only so you will not be accidentally sanctioned for violation of the specialized rules we've applied to the article. If you can add well-sourced material to the article, or suggest sections that should be removed, in keeping with the Wikipedia policies mentioned in the welcome message, please do so.

Please read the above article probation link before editing the article. — Arthur Rubin (talk) 17:14, 8 May 2008 (UTC)

[edit] edits showing that this account could be User:Dr.Jhingaadey

Please review:

  • "I read on somebody's Talk Page that the sceptics here have never tried Homoeopathy and that they are just theorising it doesn't work"[1] He read it on User_talk:Happening, a sock of Dr. Jighaandey. He also makes the same arguments as Jhingaadey socks to remove all criticism from the lead, including 3 paragraphs out of 4, and refers to list compiled by Jhingaadey
  • same argument that homeopathy is not a fringe theory per wikipedia policies [2]
  • same as above, rejects reliable sources that give a negative view of homepathy, asks to remove paragraph 2 [3]

Someone that knows Jhingaadey's style plase check it --Enric Naval (talk)

His very first posting to the homeopathy talk page raised my suspicions and action will soon be taken. -- Fyslee / talk 04:41, 13 May 2008 (UTC)

A 'sock puppet' is an alternative account used deceptively. I have never used any 'account' here before nor am I the said person you are accusing me of being. I did copy something from other pages, but this is ridiculous! --Homoeopath (talk) 11:22, 13 May 2008 (UTC)

[edit] neutral admins

The answer to your question is probably no I do not know of any enutral admins or indeed neutral persons on wiki period! very sad isn't it? they all have POV and their own hidden agendas...I assume it is something to do with the garbage above this on your talk page from enric naval a well known time-waster and troublemaker in these parts. The only admins you might approach are newyorkbrad, Tim Vickers or Carcharoth...or maybe Laralove...ask one of them. I would not trust any of the others who visit the homeopathy talk page occasionally. best of luck! Peter morrell 11:56, 13 May 2008 (UTC) Thanks Peter! --Homoeopath (talk) 12:00, 13 May 2008 (UTC)

[edit] Newyorkbrad

Newyorkbrad is no longer an arbitrator. And he is no longer active on Wikipedia at this time. FloNight♥♥♥ 12:13, 13 May 2008 (UTC)

[edit] Sockpuppetry block

You have been blocked indefinitely from editing in accordance with Wikipedia's blocking policy for abusing multiple accounts; see Wikipedia:Requests for checkuser/Case/Dr.Jhingaadey. If you believe this block is unjustified you may contest this block by adding the text {{unblock|your reason here}} below. MastCell Talk 16:20, 13 May 2008 (UTC)

This blocked user (block log | autoblocks | rangeblocks | unblock | contribs | deleted contribs) has asked to be unblocked, but an administrator has reviewed and declined this request. Other administrators may also review this block, but should not override the decision without good reason (see the blocking policy). Do not remove this unblock request while you are blocked.

Request reason: "A 'sock puppet' is an alternative account used deceptively. I have never used any 'account' here before nor am I the said person you are accusing me of being. I did copy something from other pages, but this is ridiculous!"

Decline reason: "Your edits closely match those of User:Dr.Jhingaadey, and a checkuser confirmed that your IP address is a undeniable match to his. All the evidence we have indicates that you are Dr.Jhingaadey trying to again evade his block. — Hersfold (t/a/c) 17:01, 14 May 2008 (UTC)"

Please make any further unblock requests by using the {{unblock}} template. However, abuse of the template may result in your talk page being protected.
