Homestead AFB was also home to the 726th Tactical Control squadron, a rapid deployment special forces unit, where Radio/Television personality Steve Beasley (from Tampa, Florida) served with Squadron Vehicle Maintenance from 1976-1979, repairing ground vehicles such as M35s, M151A2s, M880s, etc.
