[edit] George Michael

I note that George Michael will be performing a concert at the stadium in June. Is this a first for the stadium, or has it hosted other musical acts before? Should there be a section on this? Angmering 22:46, 5 March 2007 (UTC)

  1. Funnily enough, George's mate Elton John is playing there in May! These aren't the first pop concerts to be played at Home Park, but they are the first in around 20 years. In the late 1980s, there was a one-day rock festival held there called "Plymouth Rock", which was an unmitigated disaster - mainly because some of the bigger names advertised (including, I think, Siouxsie & The Banshees and The Damned) pulled out at short notice. Ticket sales died away, other (less big, but still well-known) bands followed suit and although the gig went ahead with the few remaining acts, the attendance was in the hundreds - they'd been hoping for around 10-15,000! --GR Davies 23:58, 7 March 2007 (UTC)
Sounds interesting; I shall see if any sources can be dug up for this so that it can be referenced in the article. Angmering 07:25, 8 March 2007 (UTC)
