Homer D. Pithawalla is a practising lawyer and professor of Law at the Government Law College, Mumbai, who is recognised as one of India's leading experts on competition law.
Dr. Pithawala has been teaching in Government Law College for more than 30 years. His students have included Supreme Court and High Court judges and advocates. Initially a professor of company law, Dr. Pithawala now lectures in contract law, family law, and the conflict of laws. Dr. Pithawala is also the Professor-in-charge of the Law College Placement Committee.
Prior to his career as professor of law, Dr. Pithawala was Advocate at Supreme Court of India and Solicitor of the Bombay High Court. He has also addressed the Supreme Court of England and Wales and the Supreme Court of Hong Kong.
Dr. Pithawala speaks English, Hindi, Marathi, Gujarati and French. He is also the author and editor of several books, including the Leading Cases on the Law of Contracts and the The Indian Divorce Act. His Legal Language, Legal Writing & General English is a standard text for aspiring lawyers.
