Homestead High School is a comprehensive secondary school located in Mequon, Wisconsin, a northern suburb of Milwaukee. The four-year public high school is a part of the Mequon-Thiensville School District, and as such serves a 48-square-mile (120 km²) area including the city of Mequon and the village of Thiensville. Homestead High School received accreditation from the North Central Association Commission on Schools. Homestead High School was also nationally recognized in 2004 as a No Child Left Behind Blue-Ribbon School, considered the highest honor a school can receive from the U.S. Department of Education. It became one of only thirty-four public high schools in the United States to receive this honor.
Upper-middle-income business executives and professional residents account for the majority of the local population. Enrollment of the comprehensive high school is 1,604. Of the 120 certified staff, 75% have masters or higher degrees. Because nearly 95% of the students are college-bound, college preparatory classes are strongly emphasized.
