Homeschool auction

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Homeschool auction is an application of the online auction business model specifically for families that homeschool. The Homeschool niche online auctions are distinguished by a focus on educational items. Interest surged in mid 2006 when the largest online auction, eBay banned the sale of teacher editions of textbooks, thus crippling the ability of homeschooling parents to find school materials through that site.

The Home School Legal Defense Association almost immediately launched a "curriculum market" to fill the need. The popular homeschool magazine, The Old Schoolhouse then launched Homeschool Buy, which also includes homesteading items and general auction items as well as the specific Homeschool items.
