Home construction

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Home Construction has been around since pre-history. Starting as nothing more than a way to shelter oneself from the elements, it has grown through ages and eras, regions and cultures, into the vast multitude of living accommodations available today. Different levels of wealth and power warranted various sizes, luxuries, and even defenses in a 'home'. Environmental considerations and cultural influences have created an almost infinitely diverse collection of architecturial styles. From castles to mud thatches, mansions to shanties, the 'home' has grown to represent a seemingly limitless array of constructs whose origins are found in the very nature of life.

While homes may have originated in pre-history, there are many notable stages at which nearly every culture has passed through to reach the current level of modernization. Various countries and peoples throughout the modern world live in different stages of home development.

The modern family home has many more systems and facets of construction then one might initially believe. The silver lining of the cloud, there are very few instances where an average person cannot completely understand everything there is to know about a phase of construction. The 'Do it yourself' boom of the late twentieth century was given rise due, in no small part, to this fact.
