The company makes decorating accessories, which are sold by more than 140,000 representatives through home parties in the US, Canada, Mexico, and Puerto Rico. Its product lines include artificial flowers, candles, framed artwork, mirrors, sconces, small furniture, and shelves. The company buys many of its products from its own manufacturing subsidiaries such as Laredo Candle Company. Mary Crowley, sister-in-law of makeup maven Mary Kay Ash, founded Home Interiors in 1957. Highland Capital Management owns a majority interest in the company.
