Homalopoma umbilicata is a species of minute deepwater sea snail with a calcareous operculum, a marine gastropod mollusc in the family Turbinidae, the turban snails.

This species is endemic to New Zealand, found in the South Island and New Zealand's Southern Islands.

This top shell is found at depths of between 170 and 310 m.

[edit] Shell description

The shell is very small, depressed, and solid. The surface is cut by linear grooves into numerous, weak, flat spiral cords. The umbilicus is wide, bordered by a weak carina, and with a rounded spiral ridge within. A feature of the species is the hollow tongue-like extension of the columella at its junction with the basal lip.

The shell coloration is white.

The shell height is up to 1.9 mm, and the width is up to 2.75 mm.
