Homafaran

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The Homafaran was a large group of lower-ranking Iranian Air Force and Army officers and Soldiers in the Imperial Army of the Shah of Iran , who secretly organized their own Revolutionary society against the Shah and organized mass defections in the imperial Iranian Armed Forces.

It is said that the "Homafaran" carried out tacit murders of well-known pro-Shah Generals during the Revolution. After the revolution most Homafaran members were absorbed into the IRGC. The Homafaran comprised largely of religiously devout officers and soldiers of the lower ranks of the Imperial Iranian Army. They played a very important role in massacring the Imperial Guards or the so-called "Immortals" of the Shah's elite Army designating in protecting the Royal Palace.

It is believed that current Iranian Army Chief Of Staff , General Yahya rahim Safavi was a young Homafaran member.
