[edit] Creation of Irish Footballer pages.
Thank you for you contributions to the players of Longford Town F.C.
However, can I just suggest a couple of improvements? When you create a page with an incorrect title, please use to move tab at the top of the page, rather than create a new article, otherwise we are left with two articles on the same subject. Also, could you add the stub tag and relavent categories, as have with Mick Hogan for example. Any questions, please let me know. --Eastlygod (talk) 19:15, 25 March 2008 (UTC)
[edit] Player notability
Hi Hollocaine. I'm afraid I have tagged most of the Longford Town player articles you have created for deletion. WP:BIO#Athletes and WP:FOOTYN state that players must have played in a fully professional league. As far as I am aware, neither of the FAI Leagues is fully professional, especially not the First Division. Therefore only players who have played abroad (e.g in England), or at a stretch, for professional clubs in Ireland (I think Shelbourne may have been - let me know if there are/were others) qualify.
Anyway, please don't see this as an attack on your editing. Contributions on the club or FAI Leagues are more than welcome as long as they meet the notability criteria. Regards, пﮟოьεԻ 57 15:51, 27 March 2008 (UTC)
- Hello again. The guidelines have been devised following debates and the formation of consensus amongst numerous editors on Wikipedia. If you are unhappy with them you are more than welcome to bring up the issue on the WT:FOOTY talk page. Regards, пﮟოьεԻ 57 15:58, 27 March 2008 (UTC)
[edit] Answer to your question
The rules are developed by all of us, working together, discussing what the rules should be, and constantly changing and refining the ones that don't work well. It's a great system. Without the notability criteria, we'd have an encyclopedia including profiles of every eight-year-old player in every elementary school in the world, so a serious discussion of which players are so important that the encyclopedia needs articles about them had to happen, and the rules you asked about are the result of that conversation. Of course, you're welcome to participate in that conversation, but remember that the rules don't just affect the articles you want to create; they get applied to everyone. -FisherQueen (talk · contribs) 15:58, 27 March 2008 (UTC)
