TX Hwy assessments
I noticed that you've been doing some housekeeping on TX highways and their assessments. I have been tackling unassessed & unclassified articles for WP:TX so you've probably noticed my assessments. I want you to know that when doing assessments on highways I deferred to the Hwy project's assessment, if it was a "start" I made TX a start too. Rarely did I assess differently, I did scan each article but still I deferred to Hwy since I felt they know the standards better than I. I hope that I didn't create more work for you in the process. - No extra work at all, the highway articles have enough work to keep me busy. During reassessing the articles, I have went ahead and changed the WP:Texas tag as well, hope that is okay. AARoads
I believe it to be a really reliable source for interstate highways. I personally contribute pictures and other info to their site. But it has about 25-30 individuals who are extreme road geeks who spend countless hours updating their site, and making sure things are accurate and up to the minute. They also cite their sources like anyone on wikipedia would expect. I don't know how you would say AARoads is not reliable. Other than federal transportation logs, I don't know anyother place where you can get that amount of info on the interstate highways. -Airtuna08 (talk) 21:11, 15 February 2008 (UTC)
- Then by that logic we should be finding original sources for everything. All secondary sources come from a primary source. And AARoads is a secondary source. The difference between AARoads and Wikipedia is that AARoads only focuses on roads, and their contributors are experts on the subject. Some who contribute to Wiki roads are, but many are not. Anyone can sign up for an account with Wiki, that isn't so with AARoads. Not just you, but I really believe you guys are mistaken about AARoads, and I have already brought it up on the Interstate talk page. -Airtuna08 (talk) 17:27, 16 February 2008 (UTC)

Re: Automatic centering of text on templates
Hey, I saw that you asked how Mr. Matté how he fixed the text to be automatically centered regardless of the number in one of the requests I just archived. If he was using Inkscape, there are three buttons that appear when editing text - one for each standard justification (left, right, and center). He then pressed the button for "center justification" (which messes up the text placement temporarily) then recentered the text onto the Texas outline and saved, thus creating the automatically centered text. Westheimer Road and F.M. 1093
I do not appreciate you deleting my contributions to the Westheimer Road article. The reason why the non-F.M. 1093 portions of Westheimer Rd. was added by me to the table was because someone merged Westheimer Rd. and F.M. 1093, which, while they run concurrently, are not the same road. Unless someone unmerges those articles, then my contributions should remain. --WisTex (talk) 22:06, 29 February 2008 (UTC)
- The title of the article is "Farm to Market Road 1093." If the section of Westheimer Road that isn't designated FM 1093 is notable enough to have its own article, then that is where such information should be located. If its not, then I'm sorry, there really isn't a place for that information. There are many roads that continue even though a state highway designation ends. - If you have ever driven down Westheimer Road, you will see how notable it is, and that it is a major commerce section of town that extends for the full length of Westheimer Road. Arkansas state shields
I thought Arkansas still uses normal state shields. There is no signs of neutral shields I thouhgt. I'm still having trouble finding the specs, but I think they look much like California or Arizona shields. Isnt User:O an adim or not because I dont see him on admin list. - Honestly, the state specific vs. neutral shields isn't that big of a deal. No, O isn't an admin, I believe he is an admin on the commons though. Admins get paid the same amount as us regular editors. --Holderca1 talk 23:26, 1 March 2008 (UTC)

Business plates
I'm not quite sure what the easiest way to fix California is. Currently Template:Jct/plate/CA/4 etc. redirects to Template:Jct/plate/4 etc. But state routes have separate plates, and when there are only state routes the plates aren't showing up:

U.S. Route 377 in Texas

Is a tunnel really a street?
I'm not sure that it makes sense to put Washburn Tunnel in USST; a street is a part of an urban environment that (usually) serves both to carry traffic and as a place for people to stroll. That doesn't really describe a tunnel, which is really a highway. It might describe some bridges. --NE2 21:19, 10 March 2008 (UTC)
- I have no idea, a state highway doesn't go through it. Trying to figure out the scope madness, I thought that only bridges/tunnels that carry roads that are within the scope of the state project would be included. SR 118 west extension
I thouhgt the SR 118 was originally plan to upgrade into freeway from SR 23 in Moorpart to SR 1 in West Ventura. This was never built and not likely to be upgrade. There must be because the envirnment people who try to block the extension. I never hear the impact clearly so I'm not sure whats the problem with making to west portion a freeway. I guess the SR 91 west extension is due to the business so people try to prohibit the upgrade from Artesia Blvd. to a freeway. Westheimer Road
Please check out the talk page - One of the things about Westheimer is that it began in the area that is NOT a part of the Farm-to-Market Road. The neighborhoods around that stretch of Westheimer are well-known and prestigious (River Oaks, Montrose) - BTW I split Westheimer into a new article, but Wistex was the guy who was adding those other intersections to the FM article. Kansas Turnpike
Probably every route should have a national map and a local map. However, it is much more common to have local maps as the main image. Q: About FAC for I-15 in AZ.
Holderca1, Interstate 70 in Colorado in the Glenwood Canyon has since usurped the claim of most expensive rural freeway per mile. The wikipedia article has a source for it. Should the I-15 in AZ article mention this? I don't know the answer, and that's why I'm asking the question privately verses on the GAC. But if the request is more information, this is another tidbit you could add. Good Luck, as both a fan of this road, and one of the contributors to this article, I'm rooting for you. - Thanks for the info, I had to double check how the I-15 article was worded to make sure it said at the time it was the most expensive. I'll keep this info on the back burner as I didn't see that it specifically says that it is the current record holder nor does it say whether there was a more expensive highway built between the two. - M-35's sources have all be re-cited except two instances of the main M-35 article at Michigan highways. Polaron found a source for the southern extension to Menominee, leaving the concurrency with US 41(/M-28) to redocument. I have three old maps here (1958, 1967 and 1972) that show it was present in 58 and 67, but not in 72. That doesn't match the 1953-1968 range that the site gives though. I have a request in at the History & Arts Library in Lansing that might get me better maps in terms of dates. Any suggestions are appreciated if you know of another source to document that, otherwise M-35 is redocumented. Imzadi1979 (talk) 20:20, 9 May 2008 (UTC)
- Yeah, your best bet is to say it changed by such and such year rather than in a specific year. That is what I usually do when I have gaps in year-to-year maps. I don't see anything wrong with it. I think M-35 is a much better article now and has a much better chance at FAC then it did with the Michigan Highways site. They are pretty thorough on checking all your references and I guarantee that they would have caught it. If I come across any sources that will be of help, I will certainly pass them along. --Holderca1 talk 20:51, 9 May 2008 (UTC)

interstate signs
Actually I thought when the sign is post doesn't mean when is made right? Even some interstate shields dont post when sign is post, not even on back of shield. Oklahoma uses state-name shields in state document; but ODOT doesn't comply. Anything doesnt comply is error like black US backgrounds. You ever been to California before? Because some I-5 makes contraction errors like one in Downtown Burbank lacking state name. and Orange County Route S18/i-5 interchange. California DOT also specifies state-name on state document.
