I - David Joy - am a 22-year old student at Royal Holloway, University of London, studying Media Arts, a film/television degree course. During my free time I work as a film runner and sometimes location assistant in the British independent film industry. I have a deep and long-term interest in cinematography, plus lesser interests in sound design, screenwriting and directing. For more information about me, please see my completely useless web site at http://www.davidjoy.org/.
Holmoak is a nickname that I have used online from time to time, usually when variations of david or dj or david.joy are unavailable, or I want to be slightly (but not especially) anonymous. It cropped up (as the word 'ilex') in the 1999 OCR Latin GCSE set text, in a section from Aeneid IX. A holmoak is a type of evergreen oak found mainly in the Mediterranean region. For a while, I used 'holmoak.wincoll.ac.uk' as the hostname for an Acorn Risc PC running ARM Linux. I also own the domain name holmoak.co.uk.
I am sure you really wanted to know that.
