[edit] Difference to Binaural recording?

Can anyone tell me what the difference is? It sounds just like a different marketing name for the same process to me... Peter S. 17:12, 21 March 2006 (UTC)

I'll suggest a merge, to see what others say. --Quiddity 20:52, 29 September 2007 (UTC)
Not just a different marketing name; like binaural, but different, in technique, process, and result. Binaural captures two signals, attempting to preserve phase and time differences. Holophony uses arrays of multiple microphones to record multiple channels whose phase and timing is then adjusted to produce a desired result. There are several different techniques and processes used, Ambisonic and Holophony are two of the major ones. Holophonics is a a different critter, a form of binaural recording. htom 22:56, 29 September 2007 (UTC)

The language used in this stub isn't encyclopedic. This is clearly written by a technician or someone with good knowledge of the subject, but lacking the communication skill to clearly express it. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 86.155.50.34 (talk) 22:29, 31 March 2008 (UTC)
