From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The Holy See of Cilicia (also known as "The Catholicossate of the Great House of Cilicia," Armenian: Մեծի Տանն Կիլիկիոյ Կաթողիկոսութիւն) is one of two sees of the Armenian Apostolic Church. It is headquartered in Antelias, Lebanon, having transferred there from Sis in Cilicia in 1930, in the aftermath of the Armenian Genocide. On location is a library (1930), the St. Gregory the Illuminator Cathedral (1940), the "Cilicia" museum (1997), and a small church dedicated to the memorial of the victims of the Armenian Genocide. It is also the location of the catholicos' residence, the "Veharan" (Վեհարան). A theological seminary is located in the nearby mountains in Bikfaya.
