Holy Roller (horse)

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Holy Roller (foaled 1992) by the Biscay stallion Sanction, was a gigantic Australian Thoroughbred racehorse of the mid-to late-1990s who won 12 of his 26 races and a cult following amongst Sydney race fans. Bred and owned by Woodlands Stud, Holy Roller stood over 18.2 hands whereas an average thoroughbred is around 16 hands or less, and his career highlights included wins in the Bill Ritchie Handicap and the Crystal Mile.

Despite being a gelding, Holy Roller was the subject of numerous offers of a home on retirement. His owners - "Chicken Kings" Jack and Bob Ingham - donated him to a Sydney veterinarian, with a farm at Picton, and Holy Roller has competed as a showjumper.
