Founded by Pakistani Hanafi Sufi cleric Sheikh Mubarak Ali Gilani Hashimi in 1983, it is a branch of Muslims of the Americas Inc., a tax-exempt organization formed in 1980 also by Gilani, who refers to himself as "the sixth Sultan Ul Faqr," claiming to be a a direct descendant of Mohammed. Gilani is also associated with the terrorist entity known as Jamaat al-Fuqra a body that has previously been placed on the U.S. Department of State's Foreign Terrorist Organization list. [1] Established over twenty years ago, the community is currently in the process of erecting a Khanqah called Baitun-Noor Shrine, purportedly the first Muslim shrine in America. The organization claims miracles have been witnessed at the location such as "Allah" written on the walls in rainbow colors - and instantaneous healings.
