Holy Family University is a fully accredited Catholic, private, co-educational, four-year university located in the Torresdale section of Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. It provides liberal arts and professional programs for more than 2,100 undergraduate students through day, evening, and summer sessions.

Founded by the Sisters of the Holy Family of Nazareth in 1954, the establishment of the University marked the culmination of an evolutionary cycle begun in 1934 with the opening of the Holy Family Teacher Training School. During the early years, Holy Family functioned as an affiliate of the Catholic University of America. The University achieved full accreditation by the Middle States Association of Colleges and Schools seven years after its founding, a status that was renewed in 1971, 1981, 1991, and 2001.

The University is under the patronage of the Holy Family, the model for all Christian families. Through various activities and the curriculum, concerted efforts are expended to deepen the students' awareness of the Holy Family and the modern family as an important social unit.

Teneor Votis, the University motto, well illustrates the ideals of Holy Family. In translation, "I am bound by my responsibilities," it serves as a reminder of the University objective to develop within the students a deep consciousness to their responsibilities to themselves, to others, to their country, and to their God.
