Holy Cross College Ryde

Holy Cross College is a high school in the suburb of Ryde in Sydney, Australia. The school was founded by the Patrician Brothers in 1890.

Holy Cross maintains extensive sporting facilities, including the Frank St. Oval and Cressy Road oval. Its current principal is Garry Williams.

The school's Cardinal Gilroy Library holds 27 workstations with Internet access and a large quantity of print media including novels of non-fiction, fiction media and relevant magazines. All students are issued with electronically read I.D. cards which hold credits for printing and photocopying. The Library is most widely used by both students and staff for its internet access. The current librarians of the school are Judith Rooney and Maryanne Hoey.

Holy Cross College is world famous for its sporting success[citation needed] especially in Rugby League and Athletics. Holy Cross was one of the original super schools in regards to Rugby League[citation needed]). This reputation was earned through Commonwealth Bank appearances from 1979-1982 (Cup Record) and also 88-89. Some famous ex-students include.

Holy Cross has also produced two Olympians in Darren Clark (Athletics) and Jim Stride (Rowing). Clarke is recognised as one of Australia's greatest track and field Athletes of the modern era.[citation needed]

Holy Cross is still recognised as an elite school link to the Wests Tigers.[citation needed]

The music department in A Block has one band room and a piano room which are available for use. The band room has a drumkit, keyboard, acoustic and electric guitars.

From 1994 to early 2003, the school has labeled itself the "College of Lifestyle Technology", maintaining the popular TEC Program, whereby students receive notebooks for $3,000.00[citation needed]. and are often emailed work electronically, through Myclasses. The TEC laptop program runs from years 7 to 8, although students may still bring their laptop to class in later years.
