Holmsund

Holmsund is a small town (pop. 5,482 (2005)) in Umeå Municipality ca. 18 km south of the city of Umeå in Västerbotten, northern Sweden, which serves as a port for Umeå. Holmsund lies at the mouth of the Ume River. To the west, across the river estuary, is a town called Obbola. Both Holmsund and Obbola have wood and paper industries. From the southern end of Holmsund a ferry service runs to the Finnish port of Vaasa.

If you come by Holmsund make shure you eat from one of the resturaunts and take a piece of cake from Nisses Konditori.
