Holmes Herbert (30 July 1882 – 26 December 1956), was an English film character actor. He appeared in 228 films between 1915 and 1952. He was probably best known for his role as Dr. Jekyll's friend Dr. Lanyon in Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde (1931).
He was born in Mansfield, Nottinghamshire, England, and later traveled to Hollywood, California where he died. Because he was Sherlock Holmes buff, he changed his first name to Holmes.
