Hollowell
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
Hollowell is a village in the Daventry district of the county of Northamptonshire in England.
Hollowell Steam is a steam and heavy horse show held annually near the village. It was first held in 1986, to raise funds to fix the local church roof. It is now one of the largest rallies in the country with 45 engines expected in 2007[1]. The funds raised, over £75,000 in 2004[2], are distributed to local charities and groups.
There is always an auction of vintage items on the Saturday morning of the show and an exemption dog show on the Sunday as well as arena events and regular arena displays of the mobile exhibits.
It is run by Allen Eaton, who was recently awarded an MBE for services to the local community. It takes place across the first full weekend of July each year.
