Holes is a stageplay by U.S. author Louis Sachar about a boy wrongfully accused of a crime who is sent to a desert camp in Texas, where the sole activity is presented as digging holes in the ground under the watchful eye of a demanding warden.[1] Similar to the screenplay Sachar developed for a 2003 movie, the Holes stageplay is based on his 1998 novel of the same title.[1] Seattle Children's Theatre professionally premiered the stageplay in April 2002.[2] The central Ohio premiere and national nonprofessional premiere of the stageplay was presented by St. Charles Preparatory School in December 2002 and at the The University of Texas at Austin in November 2006.[2]
