Holenarsipura or Holenarispur (as it is sometimes referred to in everyday speech) is a town in Hassan district of Karnataka, India situated on the banks of the Hemavati River, one of the many tributaries of the Kaveri River. The name of the town signifies the presiding deity Narasimha, the eighth incarnation of Lord Vishnu dwelling on the banks of the river (hole, pronounced as holay in Kannada).
It is a taluka headquarters in Hassan District. It is an important central point for the surrounding agriculture industry.

As of 2001 India census,[1] Holenarsipura had a population of 27,018. Males constitute 51% of the population and females 49%. Holenarsipura has an average literacy rate of 73%, higher than the national average of 59.5%; with male literacy of 78% and female literacy of 68%. 11% of the population is under 6 years of age.

Holenarsipura is on a state highway between Mysore and Hassan. Holenarsipura is connected to the rest of Karnataka and India by broad gauge railway. It is 32 km from Hassan and 90 km from Mysore. Holenarasipura is also connected to the state capital, Bangalore, by road and the distance is around 175 km.

- Shri. A.G. Ramachandra Rao - Prominent Freedom Fighter. Education minister of Mysore Government.
- K. Muttanna - First MRA (Member of representative Assembly) in Mysore Government. He was a well known freedom fighter very actively involved in the politics and social works. He was known for gave up his assembly candidature from Congress to Shri. A.G. Ramachandra Rao who then became the Education minister of Mysore. He has introduced many prominent leaders to politics including H.D Deve Gowda, H.C. Srikantaiah, K. Kumaraswamy, Vairamudi Gowda etc.,
- Dr. Raghu Ram- The first ever doctor in the whole of Holenarasipur taluka. He was recognised and later awarded on the day of Rajyotsava celebrations by the Government of Karnataka for his unselfish service to the poor people of the taluka. He was the mentor and father figure of H. D. Deve Gowda
- H.D. Deve Gowda- Former prime minister of India.
- H.D. Kumaraswamy- Former chief minister of Karnataka.
- H.D. Revanna- Former MLA and minister.
