Holding Point

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The Holding Point is an area in the Town of Horseheads, New York that is the site of the Horseheads Industrial Center. The name dates back to World War II, when the federal government used eminent domain to obtain 700 acres (2.8 kmĀ²) of farmland north of the Village of Horseheads, upon which it built a supply center and housed German and Italian prisoners of war. The land reverted to civilian control after the war and since has been an industrial center in its community. [1]
