William Lorenzo White (Sr.) Esq. Willie as he was called in his younger days was the only boy out four siblings. Born 1923, in Boley, Oklahoma which was the biggest of the all black towns in Oklahoma. After suffering the lost of both parents at 13, he then moved to Long Beach, California with his Uncle Henry and Aunt Beaula White. Since both parents were Educators, his love for studying and learning didn't favor and soon he found in himself at the top of his graduating class at Polytechnic-al High School. However, being a young black man in America at that time was hard for him and many others so it was hard getting into a good university. While going to Long Beach City College, he worked as a Journey Man in the docks of Long Beach building what would soon be World War II warships. And sure enough, the War came calling. He was drafted into the Army and served in the 777 Armored Utility Battalion from 1943 to 1945. During this time, his unit didn't loose one man! Segregation was still in force at that time and only the Commanding officer was Caucasian. After the Army, he was smart enough to use the opportunity of the G.I. Bill which paid his way to graduate from Southern California University. Although he majored in Political Science, his interest in the Law pushed him that way after graduation and he soon entered Pacific Coast Law School. After excelling in the law, he soon passed the Bar Examination on the first try and became one of the first Black Attorneys in the City of Long Beach, California. He remained a fixture in the City for almost 50 years.
