Hokuto (北杜市 Hokuto-shi?) is a city located in Yamanashi, Japan.

The city of Hokuto was founded by the merging of all the towns within the Kitakoma District except for the former town of Futaba, which merged with two municipalities to form the new city of Kai. With the newly formed towns, the Kitakoma District was dissolved.

- November 1, 2004-The city was founded on from the merger of seven towns and villages, all from Kitakoma District.
- March 15, 2006-The city also merged with a town from also from Kitakoma District.

- Since Kobuchisawa is the only town left in Kitakoma District after the creation of Hokuto, Kitakoma District was officially dissolved.
