Hokuriku region
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
Hokuriku region (北陸地方 Hokuriku chihō?, literally North Land Region) is the (sub)region along the Sea of Japan within the Chūbu region, the central region of Honshū, the main island of Japan.
The variously defined region includes the prefectures of Toyama, Ishikawa and Fukui.
Niigata Prefecture is sometimes included into Hokuriku region and sometimes not. It can be classified:
- Shin'etsu (信越?) region with Nagano Prefecture.
- Kōshin'etsu (甲信越?) with Nagano and Yamanashi Prefectures.
Hokushin'etsu (北信越 北陸 and 信越 combined?) region is the greater subregion adjoining Hokuriku and Shin'etsu regions.
