[edit] Why Platform 9 3/4
Why Platform 9 3/4 as opposed to 9 1/2? Did JKR just think 9 3/4 was funnier???
- Three quarters certainly sounds funnier than a half don't you think? :-) Evercat 00:38 2 Jul 2003 (UTC)
Any chance that they will replace the old Hogwarts Express with a new Maglev high-speed train? Thomas Lewis 21:26 17 Dec 2004 (UTC)
- I think that is unlikely for two reasons: Firstly, replacing all the lines with maglev track would be too expensive for the ministry, and secondly, as Hermione will tell you, electronic devices don't work in areas of high magic (such as platform 3/4 ?). Even switching to a diesel electric or electric train would cause problems. --njh 23:22, 25 March 2006 (UTC)

- Anyway, I heard that in book seven it’s franchised to First Hograil. :-) David Arthur 20:45, 16 December 2006 (UTC)
Pshaw. That's why there's the conjuring spell.
[edit] Purple colour?
Looks red to me. LMS red, by the look of things. Where did the "Purple" come from? —Morven 23:41, Apr 28, 2005 (UTC)
[edit] Are there any other magical train services in HP world?
Considering that most magical folk can move with portkeys and apparation is there any other train services in the HP world? Are there any other magical platforms? --njh 23:17, 25 March 2006 (UTC)
[edit] Fair use rationale for Image:Kings Cross.JPG
Image:Kings Cross.JPG is being used on this article. I notice the image page specifies that the image is being used under fair use but there is no explanation or rationale as to why its use in this Wikipedia article constitutes fair use. In addition to the boilerplate fair use template, you must also write out on the image description page a specific explanation or rationale for why using this image in each article is consistent with fair use.
Please go to the image description page and edit it to include a fair use rationale. Using one of the templates at Wikipedia:Fair use rationale guideline is an easy way to insure that your image is in compliance with Wikipedia policy, but remember that you must complete the template. Do not simply insert a blank template on an image page.
If there is other fair use media, consider checking that you have specified the fair use rationale on the other images used on this page. Note that any fair use images uploaded after 4 May, 2006, and lacking such an explanation will be deleted one week after they have been uploaded, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you.

[edit] Substituting the template
{{Hogwarts Express article}} has been nominated for deletion here. Besides any other reasons, the template occurs only here; the purpose of templates is to exist in multiple articles consistently. If anybody wants to copy this to Hogsmeade, fine. Septentrionalis PMAnderson 13:16, 29 August 2007 (UTC)
[edit] Inspiration
"Until the 1950s, some British boarding schools hired special trains to transport pupils to and from the school at the beginning and end of each term. This may be the inspiration for the Hogwarts Express"
Yeah, but it's OR if it's not been published anywhere else. More likely a ripoff from Lord Dunsany. Check out Google for refs to stories way back about going to wierd places at the edge of the world by secret purple ticket from Victoria Station. A secret purple train from Kings Cross - wow, how original. But I guess saying that's OR too? 86.139.249.213 (talk) 02:21, 18 April 2008 (UTC)
