Hoërskool Florida

Hoërskool Florida is an Afrikaans high school situated in Florida, Roodepoort,South Africa. It is renowned for its academic achievers, producing the highest number of top achievers in the Gauteng province and in South Africa over the last decade. info.gov.za

The pupils at Hoërskool Florida have also performed well in an array of different sports producing some of the best athletes in Rugby, Swimming, Hockey, Chess and target shooting.

The corner stone was layed on the 30th of September 1944 and officially opened two years later as a dual medium school (English and Afrikaans languages). The school opened initially with 345 pupils and 15 teachers under the leadership of the first head master Mr. B. G. Lindeque. The school emblim was officially instated in 1954 by Mr. Charles Grevelink, which simbolizes, power, honour, protection and love.

The motto "Ons dien getrou" (We serve faithfully) was later initiated and is still the used today.
