I've been meaning to say, since I saw its improvement several days ago, that I like your expansion of this article. I'll see you around. Flyer22 09:19, 1 October 2007 (UTC)
-
- Thank you. I tried to put in original content that doesn't double=up on what is already in the individual actors' articles, and summarize some that was. Feel free to add anything more if you find it. It's definitely a work in progress. Cheers! hmwith talk 14:57, 1 October 2007 (UTC)
I like the way that you just now formatted the headings; it's how you originally had it, which I liked better, so of course I won't revert that. The only reason that I didn't change it completely from your second version is because I felt that you may want to keep the word History as a heading. Flyer22 20:41, 9 October 2007 (UTC)
-
- Haha, I was just trying to make it more encyclopedic. However, that doesn't mean boring, and I'm glad that you corrected me! =) нмŵוτнτ 21:39, 9 October 2007 (UTC)
[The following comment was copied here from the user's talk page to have the whole conversation in one place]:
Don't think of it as a correction. Just more like an improvement. We both think of it as improved in that way. Flyer22 21:53, 9 October 2007 (UTC)
[edit] Sig code
Since the most recent !vote in your RfA cited a concern about the length of your sig, I've taken the time to massage the code a little bit. However, there's not too much that can be done to shorten it without altering a bit.
Here's your current sig: (243 characters)
Here's the ever-so-slightly shorter sig: (241 characters)
Yeah, not much shorter, but it's a tad bit more readable, to (" hmwith " is now just "hmwith"). You could, conceivably, get it down a bit more (232 characters) if you were fine with the shade of gray being changed:
(just a little bit lighter in tone)
Anyway, just thought I'd share that with you. Feel free to ignore it. :) EVula // talk // ☯ // 18:00, 1 October 2007 (UTC)

- I'd definitely be up for the 1st, more readable variation. Thanks, EVula, you're the best! hmwith talk 18:07, 1 October 2007 (UTC)

After unamimous support, you're now an admin. Keep up the good work, and spend some more time on the admin reading list. Be conservative with the tools, de-escalating a situation if possible is better than blocking for example. I'm sure you'll do well, even though you're a Buckeye fan – we won't hold it against you too much :). Again, congrats. - Taxman Talk 20:49, 1 October 2007 (UTC)

- Thanks for the thank you - and no, this isn't an invitation to an infinite chain :-) I think the advice you've been given above will serve you well. If there's something that needs doing - but you're not yet sure - ask a more seasoned admin how to do it but not to do it for you that's how you learn and can pass it on to the next newbie admin. There's still lots of stuff I haven't even tried to figure out how to do. Enjoy, and you may wish to copy something like what I have on my talk page if you plan on doing work on the speedies - people will otherwise leave comments on your user page, blank it, or some else. Given them a pointer to the complaints department (your talk page) and then you can handle them when you see them. :-) Carlossuarez46 21:56, 1 October 2007 (UTC)

-
- Yes Hayley, I can give you advice.
-
-
-
-
- You will make mistakes; don't worry about them.
- You will be asked things you cannot answer; pass the question to an admin who can.
- You will have decisions queried; if you are certain, hold your position - if not, take advice.
- You will get your pages vandalised, often offensively; react calmly, not emotionally. Take advice before blocking on this one.
- Develop your skills in the easy admin pages WP:CSD, WP:AIV, before going to the harder ones.
- Make sure that you have a firm grasp of vandalism and username policy.
- Remember when blocking that IPs can be dynamic, and the user you block may not be the one who vandalised; but that editors with usernames are always the same person, and can be treated more decisively.
- Do not get so immersed in admin work that you forget to edit in mainspace.
-
-
-
- And happy wikying. --Anthony.bradbury"talk" 21:47, 1 October 2007 (UTC)

- Haha! I got really exited to do my first one, for some reason. I just gave it a 6 hour block, assuming it's simply some kids bored in school (before the school district notice was up). Was that the right move in that situation? hmwith talk 12:48, 3 October 2007 (UTC)
Yeah, good stuff. They hadn't been blocked before and six hours is enough time to lock them out for today. Chances are they'll become repeat offenders (unfortunately) but because the block log will testify to your block, the next time round the blocking admin will increase the penalty accordingly. Good work, keep it going! The Rambling Man 12:52, 3 October 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Solar power
Thanks for attempting to fix the lead for solar power. Unfortunately the entire lead needs a major rewrite. There have been a lot of proposals, I would suggest picking one of them at least as a starting point. This whole discussion started because of a GA reviewer suggesting that the lead was too short [2], however attempts to lengthen it more recently have been clouded by attempts to rename the page to solar energy, which is why the current lead [3] starts out with solar energy. There is a current edit request to revert to the version that starts out with solar power. So far it has garnered one vote, not counting the author and not counting the proponent (these are two different people, making in reality 3 votes to one [the proponent of the other version]). 199.125.109.27 14:09, 10 October 2007 (UTC)

Hi, Thanks!. The only problem is that I have been using it as a template, so I have to try and reduce the number of characters and then replace all of the template on pages that I have signed as transclusion of templates is forbidden. [edit] User:69.255.16.162 block
Could you please explain why you decided that User:69.255.16.162 does not need to be blocked? He's added racist comments to articles several times and, after being warned twice, removed the warnings from his talk page and repated the vandalism. If that doesn't demonstrate bad faith, what does? – SJL 15:28, 17 October 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Your Signature?
I've noticed that you changed your "Signature" block recently. Are you aware that the "Talk" portion doesn't link? Is everything alright Hayley? Taye 18:41, 18 October 2007 (UTC)
-
- It still links to her talk page... just not when it's displayed on her talk page (wikilinks to the page that they are displayed on don't work). Copy and paste her sig onto a page and look at it with preview and you'll see it working just fine. EVula // talk // ☯ // 18:54, 18 October 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Your signature formatting
Do you mind if I pinch some of your signature formatting? It's very well done but subtle. Stands out but doesn't shout out, if you know what I mean. Intending to do: AJKGordon«T» Thanks. AJKGordon 19:29, 22 October 2007 (UTC)
-
- Well, some editors directly took my old one, and that's why I changed to this one. I like to have a signature that no one else has, so if you make that your's, I'd probably want to change mine again. I mean, there's no rule against it, but why wouldn't you want a signature that is all your own? Change up the colors or something, atleast. Having people with the same custom signature sort of defeats the entire purpose of them. нмŵוτнτ 20:14, 22 October 2007 (UTC)
Fair enough. I only wanted to pinch it to save time. But I will respect your wishes. Thanks. AJKGordon 20:25, 22 October 2007 (UTC)
-
- Haha, you're fine. I mean, you're allowed to do it, but I'm just selfish, I guess. =) I really appreciate your kindness, though. And I really respect that you asked, because when other signatures that were borrowed, no one let me know or gave me any credit! So I feel badly that since you asked, you'd feel really badly about doing it now, haha. But I can help you figure out a nice one or pick out some fun colors. Have a great day, and happy Wikying! нмŵוτнτ 22:26, 22 October 2007 (UTC)
- P.S. I apologize if I sound rude in my first response to you. I had just finished a political science exam and written a 1500 word paper... so I was a little stressed out. нмŵוτнτ 22:29, 22 October 2007 (UTC)
No apology needed - you didn't sound rude at all. BTW, no need to reply on my talk page as well - I have this one on watch. Do you mind if I delete the duplicate posts on my talk page to keep things tidy? AJKGordon 08:30, 23 October 2007 (UTC)

[edit] RE: Last chance from John Reaves to Rock15
I agree with what you said (on my Talk page) however, I didn't think my response to Reaves' threatening me with stopping my use of Wikipedia was "civil" either....do you? I had no idea where he is coming from. I do however, respect your opinion in the matter. By the way, I assume you will be leaving a note on his talk page (similar to the one you left on mine), telling him NOT to use the most "vulgar" word in our language for ALL TO SEE on his Talk page! RIGHT? I mean, fair is fair! If I put that word, and nothing else on my page, I'm sure he, and you, would have no problem blocking me. -- Rock15(T)(A) 00:45, 25 October 2007 (UTC)
You say above to check out your sandbox for some new ideas about my page. Obviously, you've changed your mind by erasing it. I appreciate your "original" willingness to help. -- Rock15(T)(A) 00:58, 25 October 2007 (UTC
-
- Wikipedia is not censored. If he wants a random "bad word" on his userpage, he can put it there. However, attacking and being uncivil to specific other editors is not allowed. We can attest to who editors are by editing habits, the image you used on your userpage, implying that it was yours on both accounts, and several other reasons.
-
- As for the sandbox, I had to change it for technical reasons. See this link for what I started. нмŵוτнτ 14:39, 25 October 2007 (UTC)
