Please note, there is a date conflict, here. If anyone has an authoritative source for launch date, please correct the information here, and put a citation in the update. Here are some (conflicting) sources on the Net:

• Site that says 1969
• Site that says 15th March 1968
• Site that says March 15th 1968

Both 1968 and 1969 are mentioned as launch dates on Wikipedia in various spots. I suspect that the references to 1969 are mistakenly refering to the commission date.
