[edit] Comment
This seemed a bit thin for such a busy ship; I've added some details, based on G.G. Connell's book. He drew the distinction between Kelly and Jervis, which I've referred to. Xyl 54 10:28, 16 June 2007 (UTC)
[edit] Fate
The article previously stated:" Jervis was sold for scrap to W. H. Arnott, Young and Company, Limited on 3 January 1949 and broken up at Port Bannatyne ". Does anyone have a source for this? br> Connell states this didn't happen till 1954, so I've put that, but don't want to simply delete it without asking. Xyl 54 10:34, 16 June 2007 (UTC)
[edit] 5th Destroyer Flotilla?
Some sources say she was a leader of the 7th Flotilla in the beginning of war. Pibwl ←« 21:49, 4 October 2007 (UTC)
- Sorry,my mistake; it was 7 DF. 5 DF was the one led by Kelly. Xyl 54 08:19, 8 October 2007 (UTC)
[edit] Battle honours
Seems, that HMS Nubian had more battle honours as well - 15 [1] Pibwl ←« 13:48, 8 October 2007 (UT
- You're right, there are 15 honours listed there for Nubian. I was going by Connell's book; he gave Orion and Nubian as having 13, as well as Jervis, and Warspite as having 14, but over both World Wars. It'd be nice to corroborate it with a third source, as Connell seems fairly reliable otherwise; but do you think it should be changed anyway? Xyl 54 16:30, 8 October 2007 (UTC)

- I’ve looked at this battle honours thing again and I’m more confused now: The website list for Nubian mentions Sicily 1943 twice. I don’t know if it’s a repetition or whether some other encounter in 1943 is meant. Connell refers to Nubian a number of times (they were both in 14 DF) but the last mention is at Salerno; I don’t know where she went after that. Also, Connell has Mediterranean 1940-42 for Jervis as one honour, while the website has Med 1940 and 1941 as separate for Nubian; also, Nubian has one for Med 1943, while Jervis doesn’t, although they were both in 14 DF throughout. So I don't know: 13 or 15? Xyl 54 16:19, 9 October 2007 (UTC)

- I have no idea, what is correct. We need some official list of RN battle honours ;-) Possibly twice Sicily 1943 is a mistake. Pibwl ←« 22:29, 9 October 2007 (UTC)
- On the other hand, if this is a full list of HMS Orion's honours, she would earn only 8 honours, while the remaining 5 are inherited :-) Pibwl ←« 22:03, 13 October 2007 (UTC)
- Inherited battle honours; what an interesting notion! You might well be right; regiments work that way, so I suppose there's no reason why not ships. What is needed is a definitive list for all ships, from the same source, so they're comparable; I don't know where that would be , outside the national archive. Any ideas? - PS Found this; any use? Xyl 54 15:40, 17 October 2007 (UTC)

- I've got an answer from a webmaster again. The information with triple Mediterranean is based upon the book "The Tribals" by Martin Brice, but there was also Sfax 1941 indeed. If all entries of Mediterranean, Malta Convoys and Lybia count as one honour only, they both have 13. Pibwl ←« 22:37, 20 October 2007 (UTC)
