I do believe that the HMS Drake, not the blake was the first British military ship captured by an American vessel during the revolution. There are some google sources that recognize the Blake, but do a search on the HMS Drake. You're quite right. Indeed, Colledge lists no Blake in service in before 1808. Gdr 13:03:03, 2005-08-13 (UTC)
