HMS Patriot

HMS Patriot was a Thornycroft "M" class destroyer that served in the Royal Navy.

Built by Thornycroft & Company, Southampton, she was launched on the 20th April 1916.

HMS Patriot saw extensive service throughout World War I. She maintained continuous operations both as a convoy escort, and in harbour protection. At the end of the war, she was deemed surplus and transferred to the Royal Canadian Navy and was renamed HMCS Patriot. She was transferred to Halifax in late 1920 along with her sister ship HMS Patrician and the cruiser HMS Aurora.
