HMS Paladin (G69)

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

HMS Paladin (G69) was a P-class destroyer of the British Royal Navy that saw service during World War II.

Following the sinking of the heavy cruisers Cornwall and Dorsetshire, on April 5, 1942, Paladin took part in the rescue operations, and assisted in the recovery of approximately 1,120 men from both crews.

While escorting Convoy KR-8 on 12 February 1944, she helped her sister ship HMS Petard destroy the Japanese submarine I-27 after it had sunk the SS Khedive Ismail with the loss of 1,297 people.

In 1954 she was converted to a Type 16 fast anti-submarine frigate, with the new pennant number F169.

Paladin was broken up in 1962.
