HMS Onyx

A number of ships of the Royal Navy have been named HMS Onyx, including:

  • Onyx, launched in 1808 and broken up in 1819
  • Onyx, a brig launched in 1822 and broken up in 1837
  • Onyx, a drifter used as a depot ship and tender during the First World War
  • Onyx (J221), a minesweeper commissioned in 1943 and scrapped in 1967
  • Onyx (S21), an Oberon-class submarine in service from 1967 to 1991
