[edit] Wikiproject Narnia Newsletter March 2007

WikiProject Narnia Newsletter
Issue 1 - 2nd March 2007 . Written by User:Sp3000 (talkcontribs)
WikiProject Narnia News
  • The WikiProject has been a little quiet lately. There are still quite a lot of Narnia stubs. It has been nearly three months since we last worked on Minor characters in The Chronicles of Narnia, which still looks very much like a draft page. That would be a nice article to get into the main namespace.
Good and Featured Articles
Other news
  • WikiProject Narnia's first newsletter issue has been published. You're looking at it right now!
Member News
To-do
  1. Add characters and bios to minor character draft page.
  2. Expand Narnia stubs.
  3. Place links to the Narnia Portal on article pages by using {{portal|Narnia}}.
  4. Add the stub template {{Narnia-stub}} to articles in the category Category:Stub-Class Narnia articles so that there are the same number of articles in Category:The Chronicles of Narnia stubs.
  5. Link the first mention of a year in all Narnia-related articles to Narnian timeline.
  6. Rewrite character articles to use the Narnian character example article format.
  7. Adopt an article and improve it to the best of your ability.
  8. Wikify The Chronicles of Narnia article, especially the new lead and Narnian Universe sections
From the founder

I am proud to present our first issue of the WikiProject Narnia Newsletter. I decided that we needed to alert everybody who had expressed interest in the project that there is much work to be done! Please check in every once in a while at the project talk page, and tell other project members what you've been up to in terms of Narnia articles.

Article of the Month: Edmund Pevensie
  • Edmund Pevensie is a major character in The Chronicles of Narnia. He appears as a principal character in three of the seven books. Edmund was the second to enter Narnia, although he tried to betray his siblings to the White Witch. However, Edmund managed to help save Narnia by neutralizing the White Witch's most powerful weapon, her wand.
Collaboration of the Month: Shasta (Narnia)
  • Shasta is currently quite short and not much of his background has been mentioned. The article also lacks images – but make sure if you upload one, you include a FU rationale. Contribute!

[edit] An Automated Message from HagermanBot

Hello. In case you didn't know, when you add content to talk pages and Wikipedia pages that have open discussion, you should sign your posts by typing four tildes ( ~~~~ ) at the end of your comment. You may also click on the signature button Image:Wikisigbutton.png located above the edit window. This will automatically insert a signature with your name and the time you posted the comment. This information is useful because other editors will be able to tell who said what, and when. Thank you! HagermanBot 02:06, 21 March 2007 (UTC)

[edit] About the Adoption

I have considered adopting you, dear Hmrox, I really have. But another user seeking adoption, asked me less than an hour before you did. I thought, I could handle adopting one user, but two... No, I really think not. When I've helped this other user, he might learn much. And maybe, he will not need my help by then, and then I could help you. But I suppose their are still loads of users who still need adoption; just seek out their user-pages! I'm sorry, I really am, but I just can't adopt two users...

For the rest of it; I wish you the best of luck on wikipedia, and I hope you'll do great!

[edit] Re:Adoption

Sure, I'll adopt you. Just leave me a message whenever you're ready. Alex43223 T | C | E 22:56, 21 March 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Starting

And what time zone are you in? Alex43223 T | C | E 05:12, 22 March 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Good

In that case, we can get started whenever you'd like. Just tell me what it is you'd like to start with, unless of course, youd don't know, which is also fine. Alex43223 T | C | E 23:40, 22 March 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Adoption

Hello! I'm an experienced user and would like to adopt you! Please respond on my talk page. --Cremepuff222 (talk, review me!) 21:51, 25 March 2007 (UTC)

Excellent! Your first assignment is to change your current adoption userbox to {{adoptee|Cremepuff222}}. Then, please tell me your interests on my talk page. --Cremepuff222 (talk, review me!) 22:08, 25 March 2007 (UTC)

Cool. Be sure to contribute to articles that interest you as this is the easiest way to accumulate edits. Now, what are some of the things that you would like to learn about on Wikipedia? --Cremepuff222 (talk, review me!) 22:15, 25 March 2007 (UTC)

The latter will just take time. To learn about debates and voting, I recommend checking out WP:MOTD. This is a fun place to learn voting. Then, after you get more experienced, consider looking at various deletion databases. Learning how to become a good voter takes time and effort. --Cremepuff222 (talk, review me!) 22:21, 25 March 2007 (UTC)

There are many things that you can do! You could volunteer at the help desk, greet new users by posting {{subst:w-basic|cookies=true|heading=true}} on his or her talk page, or you could help users at CAT:HELP. If you ever find a user that's done a very good job, you could give him or her a barnstar. Or, you could drop a friendly note to a stressed user. Feel free to do what you want. --Cremepuff222 (talk, review me!) 22:36, 25 March 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Fair use rationale for Image:0112.jpg

Thanks for uploading Image:0112.jpg. I notice the image page specifies that the image is being used under fair use but there is no explanation or rationale as to why its use in Wikipedia articles constitutes fair use. In addition to the boilerplate fair use template, you must also write out on the image description page a specific explanation or rationale for why using this image in each article is consistent with fair use.

Please go to the image description page and edit it to include a fair use rationale.

If you have uploaded other fair use media, consider checking that you have specified the fair use rationale on those pages too. You can find a list of 'image' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "Image" from the dropdown box. Note that any fair use images lacking such an explanation will be deleted one week after they have been uploaded, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. Jay32183 22:56, 15 April 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Hello

Hi, Hmrox! Please remember that you can ask me a question whenever you need help. It's not that I think that you have been doing bad things are anything, but you haven't been doing my assignments or even talked to me recently. Don't get the idea that I'm mad though, I just wanted you to know that any question you ask me is a good one. --Cremepuff222 (talk, review me!) 23:21, 15 April 2007 (UTC)

Check out Wikipedia:Editor review. Btw, does your name happen to stand for "Hannah Montana Rocks" or does it stand for "High school Musical Rocks"? --Cremepuff222 (talk, review me!) 01:34, 16 April 2007 (UTC)

Thanks for reviewing me! --Cremepuff222 (talk, review me!) 22:41, 16 April 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Adoption?

Hi, Hmrox. It's been a while since we last talked, and I have to say that I'm a bit disappointed that you haven't contacted me in any way recently. Also, you haven't completed any of your assignments, so please get to work. If you would like to continue the adoption, please tell me on my talk page within 1 week. If there are any issues in real life that are stopping you from editing, I'll understand, but please tell me. I'll be awaiting your reply (and sorry if this message sounded like I was angry, I'm not). :) *Cremepuff222* 00:43, 21 May 2007 (UTC)

Oh, that's okay. I figured by your contributions that there was something wrong, so there's no harm done. So, what's new with you? *Cremepuff222* 23:50, 12 June 2007 (UTC)
I could help fix up your userpage if you want. *Cremepuff222* 17:32, 13 June 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Hmrox, note well

My name is Sally-May Burnigan, and I am a former student at Lumen Christi college. Sorry for the intrusion, but I couldn't figure out another way to talk to you. Anyway, the speciality of Lumen Christi is indeed 'Bum!'. This was chosen by some of the local pensioners who were invited to contribute little ideas and things. It was a lovely day. We had biscuits. You see, 'BUM' is an acronym used in the USA, for Business Update Meeting, a quarterly report given to employees of a company on the state of the company's business. Our school is of this.

[edit] Thanks

Thanks for reverting the vandalism on my user page. =) -- Gogo Dodo 05:44, 16 June 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Your message

You just send me a message, that I removed content from an article. I had made a mistake and posted the saint at June 23, when I wanted to post it at the real feastday, June 19. Therefore I moved the content to June 19, and will seach for the correct saint for June 23. So it is correct now. I want to thank you for warning me but the mistake was not teh removal but the posting. I am sorry but I did not discover the mistake before I checked the archive. Thanks for helping. --Thw1309 17:08, 16 June 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Rollback

Could you explain what you do here? Are you into revert wars? --Ghirla-трёп- 17:24, 16 June 2007 (UTC)

Besides, this comment shows that you are seriously deluded. I am free to remove anything from my talk page as long as I think it appropriate. --Ghirla-трёп- 17:27, 16 June 2007 (UTC)
You are welcome. --Ghirla-трёп- 17:35, 16 June 2007 (UTC)

[edit] trunk music

no, i'm afraid that the talk page for Trunk Music is the talk page for the disambiguation page, not the Trunk Music (album) article. Barbara Osgood 20:22, 16 June 2007 (UTC)

[edit] My edit

Why is it unconstructive? this kid isnt notable and JzG seemed to think so too. whats wrong with being bold? 75.3.85.83 14:43, 17 June 2007 (UTC)

Ok thanks 75.3.85.83 14:50, 17 June 2007 (UTC)

[edit] My edit 2: Different user

You also reverted my edit at Chester-le-Street. While you were reverting I was in the process of explaining my action on the talk page. While I applaud your vigilance of vandalism on wikipedia I think you were a little hasty in this case. 212.140.167.99 14:49, 17 June 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Messianic complex

Why did you revert that page to the spam and vandalism filled one? 63.226.182.25 01:55, 18 June 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Random

Right, I promise that I'll fix your userpage tomorrow. :) *Cremepuff222* 01:59, 18 June 2007 (UTC)

I hope you like it! *Cremepuff222* 00:06, 19 June 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Order of Saint Lazarus

Please be more careful with your edits. Your recent edit to Order of Saint Lazarus actually restored vandalism, rather than eliminating it. Cheers, Civil Scholar 17:53, 18 June 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Dropping by...

Hey, I see you've been a lot more active lately! Please remember, I'm always around to answer your questions if you have any. Good job reverting vandalism too, and don't worry about that thread right above this. We all make mistakes... *Cremepuff222* 14:49, 17 October 2007 (UTC)

[edit] November 2007

Welcome to Wikipedia. Everyone is welcome to contribute constructively to the encyclopedia. However, adding content without citing a reliable source, as you did to Alto, is not consistent with our policy of verifiability. This is especially important when dealing with biographies of living people, but applies to all Wikipedia articles. Take a look at the welcome page to learn more about contributing to this encyclopedia. If you are already familiar with Wikipedia:Citing sources please take this opportunity to add your original reference to the article. Thank you. Kurt Shaped Box 23:06, 10 November 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Re: Contralto form

The reason why I delete the pop singers is because they really do not have any proof of their ranges and I don't think they have ranges at all. Singers like Christina Aguilera does have a range of a soprano. But the rest doesn't. So please do not add them to the forms anymore.

And, the other reason is because I HATE pop music.

[edit] Crotchsock

You reported this user on AIV - in my opinion, having vandalized only (as far as I can count) four three times [his blanking of his talk page does not constitute vandalism], and never having received any warnings not from a bot, is not enough to establish a vandalism-only account. I have issued a final warning, and will block if he (likely) vandalizes again. —Random832 04:17, 21 December 2007 (UTC)

How is adding a simpler definition to the Dolichorhynchops article—reflective of the fact that the extant "definition" was academically over-the-top—"vandalism"? I think you need something more productive to keep you busy.
