AWM Caption: C.1954. STARBOARD BOW VIEW OF THE AIRCRAFT CARRIER HMAS VENGEANCE. NOTE THE SINGLE 40 MM BOFORS AND QUADRUPLE 2 POUNDER AA GUNS MOUNTED IN SPONSONS ALONG HER SIDE. ANOTHER 2 POUNDER MOUNTING IS SITED BEFORE THE ISLAND. THE SHIP HAS TYPE 279B RADAR AND A YE RADIO BEACON AT THE MAST HEAD. TYPE 293 RADAR IS ON THE PLATFORM FORWARD OF THE MAST AND TYPE 277 ON THE ISLAND. TYPE 960 AIR SEARCH RADAR IS ON THE SMALL MAST ABAFT THE FUNNEL. (NAVAL HISTORICAL COLLECTION)
