Each week a Hong Kong Collaboration of the Week will be picked using this page.

This is a specific topic which is directly related to Hong Kong but of low quality, usually a complete stub or a broken page, the aim being to have a featured-standard article by the end of the week, from widespread cooperative editing.

The project aims to fill gaps about Hong Kong in Wikipedia, to give users a focus and to give us all something to be proud of. You can find a list of Hong Kong articles on the Todo list on the Hong Kong wikipedians' noticeboard or you can look in List of Hong Kong-related topics or the Hong Kong wikipedians' complete to do list.

Anyone can nominate an article and can vote for the nominated articles.

Every Sunday, the votes are tallied, and the winner will be promoted for a week to potential contributors.

You can see a list of current featured articles on Hong Kong subjects here.

[edit] Selecting the next Collaboration of the Week

The next winner will be selected at 13:00 (UTC) or 21:00 (HKT), on Sunday, March 19, 2006.

[edit] Voting

This collaboration adopts the approval voting system. In such system only support votes are counted. The winner is the candidate with the biggest number of support votes.

Only registered users should vote. Any Wikipedian can vote on this page. You do not have to be from Hong Kong!!!

To enter your votes, simply edit the appropriate sections by just inserting a new line with "# ~~~~". This will add your username and a time stamp in a new numbered list item.

[edit] Tie-breakers

In case of a tie, the candidate that was nominated earlier wins.

[edit] Nominations

New nominations can be made at any time and should be added at the end of this page.

Please use the template.

If the page you are nominating already exists, please add {{HKCOTW_candidate}} to the top of its talk page. This expands to:

Flower of Hong Kong - Bauhinia Blakeana This is a candidate for Hong Kong Collaboration of the week Please visit the page to support or comment on the nomination.

[edit] Considerations for nominations

  • Please only nominate HK articles which definitely doesn't comply with the featured article standard. If you have an article that is not related to Hong Kong please use Collaboration of the Week, which is not specific to Hong Kong articles.
  • Giving reasons as to why an article should become the HKCOTW may assist others in casting their vote.

[edit] Pruning

The nomination will be moved to /Removed if it has not received 3 votes after 7 days on the list, 5 votes after 14 days, 7 votes after 21 days, and so on.

The dates above each nomination may appear to be random, but they are the target date by which that target figure needs to be achieved. This needs to be raised each time an article's votes reach the previous target. This avoids users who are new to the system from thinking that an article doesn't need any further votes because it has reached its weekly target.

  • The Indian Wikipedians have been doing good jobs for the articles with title "_____ of India". Those articles give very good introductions about different aspects of India. A lot of those articles have already gained "featured" status. I hope all Hong Kong Wikipedians can learn from their experience, and improve the articles with title "_____ of Hong Kong". We may use the "Geography of India" article as a reference. - Alanmak 05:03, 21 October 2005 (UTC)

[edit] 1980s in Hong Kong

Nominated April 17, 2006 (Monday), needs three votes by April 24, 2006 (Monday)

Reason: Another important period of the Hong Kong history, featuring the vast improvement in the economy of Hong Kong after it picked up its track in developing into a financial centre. Why not improving this article then, just like we did for 1970s and 1990s?
