I am a professional research scientist. I have a Bachelor's degree in theoretical physics and a PhD in physical oceanography. My research revolves around the role of the oceans in controling or moderating global climate change. I have written a large number of research papers on a variety of tpics concerning the dynamics of climate change, the oceanic control mechanisms, general ocean dynamics and the impact of climate change on biological systems.

I am also co-Chairman of the International Argo Steering Team. Argo (the Wikipedia link is [Argo (Oceanography)] is a multinational effort to monitor the changing state of the oceans AND make the data freely available in real-time to anyone who wants to see it and use it. The data can be accessed free of charge and with no controls on use, and the data can be viewed and manipulated using a free software package called "Ocean DataView".

I also enjoy music and sing bass in a chamber choir called Via Choralis. Finally, I have a webcam in my office window. Just try doing a Google search on the terms "Howard Freeland Office Window".
