(1982)

Hit the Lights is the first demo recording by thrash metal band Metallica. Recorded in early 1982, the band's lineup for the demo was James Hetfield, Lloyd Grant, Ron McGovney, and Lars Ulrich.

The song Hit The Lights was the original recorded version with Lloyd Grant at lead guitar. This same version is featured on the first pressing of the Metal Massacre compilation. The version from No Life 'till Leather were used on the second and later pressings. The other two tracks are cover songs from the bands Sweet Savage and Savage and were recorded with Dave Mustaine at a rehearsal.
