[edit] AfD nomination of Illegal number
An editor has nominated Illegal number, an article on which you have worked or that you created, for deletion. We appreciate your contributions, but the nominator doesn't believe that the article satisfies Wikipedia's criteria for inclusion and has explained why in his/her nomination (see also "What Wikipedia is not"). Your opinions on whether the article meets inclusion criteria and what should be done with the article are welcome; please participate in the discussion by adding your comments at Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Illegal number and please be sure to sign your comments with four tildes (~~~~). You may also edit the article during the discussion to improve it but should not remove the articles for deletion template from the top of the article; such removal will not end the deletion debate. Thank you. Please note: This is an automatic notification by a bot. I have nothing to do with this article or the deletion nomination, and can't do anything about it. [edit] RE: Bubbles the Clown
Thanks for the positive response. I took a lot of information from other Test Card related pages and put it all on there. Thanks for framing the picture, it looks so much better.

[edit] Email regarding Bubbles the Clowns history
I just recieved the reply to the email I sent the BBC yesterday, and I am rather disapointed. All I got was a very long-winded apology about 'how they could not find any results on their database regarding my question.' I am now going to email them about whether they have a Test Card Documentary to show.

Hello HisSpaceResearch, an automated process has found an image or media file tagged as nonfree media, such as fair use. The image (Image:Scratch4Cash.JPG) was found at the following location: User:HisSpaceResearch. This image or media will be removed per statement number 9 of our non-free content policy. The image that was replaced will not be automatically deleted, but it could be deleted at a later date. Articles using the same image should not be affected by my edits. I ask you to please not readd the image to your userpage and could consider finding a replacement image licensed under either the Creative Commons or GFDL license or released to the public domain. Thanks for your attention and cooperation. User:Gnome (Bot)-talk 08:38, 17 May 2007 (UTC)
[edit] Hey HisSpace
We lost the template (Personalideas). But, maybe if you do it the same way except more toned down and mentioning also about the issue with the newbies. If you do, I will make an argument in favor of it, all over again. What do you say? Jrod2 00:18, 22 May 2007 (UTC)

Hello, this is a message from an automated bot. A tag has been placed on WP:YOUSUCK, by 86.149.112.50 (talk · contribs), another Wikipedia user, requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. The tag claims that it should be speedily deleted because WP:YOUSUCK fits the criteria for speedy deletion for the following reason:
To contest the tagging and request that administrators wait before possibly deleting WP:YOUSUCK, please affix the template {{hangon}} to the page, and put a note on its talk page. If the article has already been deleted, see the advice and instructions at WP:WMD. [edit] Aden Abdullah Osman Daar
As far as I was told, the word "born" is only supposed to appear in the lifespan bracket introduction when the person in question is alive, for the same reasons that their place birth is only supposed to appear then when alive. Keeping just the lifespan in the brackets looks neater and more encyclopedic, so I've been told, (and I also happen to agree, unless there's a translation issue ala Sadaam Hussein). On carefully watched and featured articles (Jerry Falwell, Gerald Ford for example) this seems to be the accepted style. Also, when there is a lifespan (1908 - May 19, 2007) the words "born" and "died" are implied. Adding them would seem to be redundant. Canadian Paul 20:41, 22 May 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Small cleanup icon
I noticed your comments over on Why tags are evil from some time ago. I thought you might be interested in a new, unobtrusive clean-up icon created by User:Notmyhandle, which I think would be another good step in the same spirit as that taken by the small sp icon that has become so prominent, such as on White House. You can take a look at the new, smaller, cleanup icon here, and if you like what you see, please leave a comment here. I think that tags, though they serve some purpose, have really become visual pollution, and we need more of these smaller icons. Cheers. Unschool 07:42, 26 May 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Bubbles the Clown
I was about to ad a ref to this about Carole Hersee marking the 40th anniversary of test card F - when I noticed the Richard Whiteley ref - am I missing something here? Zir 19:34, 30 May 2007 (UTC)

- I meant, why does Richard Whiteley's obit feature as a ref in the article - what's the significance? Zir 10:50, 31 May 2007 (UTC)
- It does cite the 70,000 hours thing. But yeah, I do think now that the Bubbles article really is just a content fork of Test Card F.-h i s s p a c e r e s e a r c h 10:50, 31 May 2007 (UTC)

- Nah - said what I needed to in "Do not merge with Test Card F!" and the direction that the article might take. I presume that Carole might still have Bubbles - but will ask her sister Gill next time I see her (we work together occasionally) - and also if it's possible to get a non-copyright photo.Zir 11:19, 2 June 2007 (UTC)

- Well, Wikipedia is a formal encyclopedia after all. I just get this feeling somehow that Bubbles the Clown is inevitably a content fork of Test Card F. And it's not as if Carole's sister is mentioned at all in the Bubbles article right now...-h i s s p a c e r e s e a r c h 11:30, 2 June 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Big Brother 2007 (UK) Discussion
Yeah just a little for something so minor. Maybe I was a little over-zealous with the WP:FORUM. I try to watch out for it from new users, but as you have used wikipedia for as long time I should have just let it slide, and realised that you had the article in mind. I was just slightly worried if we went down that road suddenly the talk page would get flooded with all sorts of speculation. Sorry ;-) John Hayes 10:35, 1 June 2007 (UTC)

- Got your message, but need specifics...that is, specific instances (rather than the general expression "justified" (anything can be or not be justified, which is not questioned in this case). In other words, what type of references are you referring to that are needed in addition to what has been provided? →Lwalt ♦ talk 20:39, 27 June 2007 (UTC)
[edit] Fair use rationale for Image:The_Future_Sound_of_London_Lifeforms_album_cover.jpg
Thanks for uploading or contributing to Image:The_Future_Sound_of_London_Lifeforms_album_cover.jpg. I notice the image page specifies that the image is being used under fair use but there is no explanation or rationale as to why its use in Wikipedia articles constitutes fair use. In addition to the boilerplate fair use template, you must also write out on the image description page a specific explanation or rationale for why using this image in each article is consistent with fair use. Suggestions on how to do so can be found here.
Please go to the image description page and edit it to include a fair use rationale. Using one of the templates at Wikipedia:Fair use rationale guideline is an easy way to ensure that your image is in compliance with Wikipedia policy, but remember that you must complete the template. Do not simply insert a blank template on an image page.
If you have uploaded other fair use media, consider checking that you have specified the fair use rationale on those pages too. You can find a list of 'image' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "Image" from the dropdown box. Note that any fair use images uploaded after 4 May, 2006, and lacking such an explanation will be deleted one week after they have been uploaded, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. Videmus Omnia 18:05, 30 June 2007 (UTC)
