Template talk:History of San Francisco
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
[edit] In the beginning, there were a crapload of related articles ... And then the editor said, "Let there be templates."
My intention has been to provide a nav-box portal for interested readers to use in gaining an appreciation for San Francisco's history. Of course, it would be impractical to include every SF-related article in the nav-box, so my criteria for selection have been as follows:
1) Articles on places that have decently-developed history sections, and which are significant to the historical growth of the City overall, or else which are historically significant in their own right.
2) People who have wielded large amounts of political power or who have otherwise had great, long-lasting impact upon the City, who aren't better-covered in another San Francisco history article (e.g. Harvey Milk and George Moscone are both covered pretty well in the Moscone-Milk assassinations article, and readers can just follow links in those articles to the pages on the individuals), and who are also DEAD. If they're still breathing, they don't make the cut. Sorry.
3)Events and businesses which have had great, long-lasting impact upon the City or at least have a large amount of notoriety attached to them.
4)Things that fit into the categories set out that have had a great impact. Note the oft-repeated phrase GREAT IMPACT. In order to avoid excessive clutter, the marginally-significant should be avoided like ripe dogshit in summertime. Feel free to cull any of my entries that you think over-step these ground-rules -- I'm sure I've over-stepped plenty. --Dynaflow 07:45, 30 March 2007 (UTC)
[edit] Not orphaned, just neglected
I completely forgot I made this thing one day last March. I think it was just about the time I got distracted by the beginnings of what became my University of California template series. This is still something readers might find useful, so I'll watchlist the page to remind myself it's here and work on it when I have time. If you still feel the need to delete it, please copy it to my userspace workshop first. Thanks. --Dynaflow babble 19:39, 9 February 2008 (UTC)
