[edit] Eurocentric
This template is deeply Euro centric. Other parts of the world did not have a Middle Ages or an early modern period. - SimonP 04:00, Mar 2, 2005 (UTC)

- In places like China and Japan, which were unified under one ruler for most of their histories, the common approach was to divided history by dynasty. Dividing history up into neatly defined periods was mostly an eighteenth and nineteenth century idea. In areas like Africa, where histories were not written until the twentieth century, periodization has never been widely applied. - SimonP 05:05, Mar 2, 2005 (UTC)

- There is only the infinity of undivided time? History of Japan has a template table you need a magnifying glass to read, and Africa is only past and present? The article History of Africa does contain periodization.
- What I'm trying to ask is: ...prehistory, ancient history, ?, modern history?
