This template was built to be a more generic version of {{USCensusPop}} which could accept any year and would not link to the US Census articles. But you can actually think of that one as a more specialized version of this template intended for US geographic articles where the census is taken every ten years. Both templates will calculate the percentage change. —Mike 10:25, 9 December 2007 (UTC)
