[edit] First coins?

The article states that coins were minted in China in the 11th century BC, but I'm having difficulty finding references for this. ChinaCulture.org states coins were developed sometime between 1000 and 400 BC. --Brunnock 12:05, 28 February 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Request for expansion

Considering the importance of coins throughout history, this article is far too short. I've tagged this article and put it up on Wikipedia:Requests for expansion.

I do not know much about coins but I think the article would benefit from more information on:

  • How coins first came in to use
  • History of use in different parts of the world
  • Minting processes throughout history
  • Counterfeiting which I am sure goes hand in hand with coins throughout history
  • Particularly notable coins from different times

I'm sure there's more that could be added but as a start I think these would add some much needed "meat" to this article. -- Rpvdk (talk) 07:43, 23 March 2008 (UTC)
