From other sources I learn that a Sikkim king Phyag-rdor rNam-rgyal, born in 1686, invented the Lepcha alphabet in the 1720s. How does he fit in with the history here? Could he be Chadok Namgyal? Evertype 13:04, 2005 May 31 (UTC)

I read long ago that India undermined the monarchy, so that Sikkim would no longer be able to govern intself and would acquiesce to annexation. Is there any truth to that? Dvd Avins 01:17, 19 April 2006 (UTC)
